TY - JOUR TI - Effects of war on children's mental health AU - Despert, J. L. T2 - Journal of Consulting Psychology AB - The author summarizes the effects of war on children in the following groups: countries at war; countries at war, bombed but not invaded; and countries at war, both bombed and invaded. In the United States, the rise in the number of children's emotional problems has not been so great as anticipated; in England, the reactions have been transitory and have affected principally those children who were previously emotionally unstable; reports from countries in the third group are either too sketchy or too general and optimistic for adequate evaluation.
